Hey there, art enthusiasts and fellow creatives! Today, I want to take you on a journey, sharing the exhilarating experience of the annual fest 'Perceptions 2023' organised by the Fine Arts and Photography Society of Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. This two-day extravaganza held on the 17th and 18th of April, 2023, left an indelible mark and ignited a sense of Festive Tranquillity like never before.
As the morning sun bathed the campus in its golden glow, all the members were eager to unravel the event that we had been preparing for months, some running around making the final touches and some worrying about their outfits! The theme for this year's event was 'Festive Tranquillity,' a beautiful fusion of celebrations and artistic brilliance. The main installation, crafted by our talented members, depicted a young boy emanating a plethora of objects from his brain, symbolising the boundless creativity that flows through an artist's mind. The moment the exhibition was set up, a surge of pride and joy washed over us.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. Students, teachers, and art enthusiasts from different colleges across Delhi University gathered, their excitement palpable. It was the perfect start to an eventful day.
The day unfolded with a series of captivating competitions designed to showcase the participants' artistic prowess. Fancy Face-Off, the face painting competition, vibrant colours danced upon the canvas of participants' faces, transforming them into living works of art. Focal Feud, an exhilarating on-the-spot photography competition, brought out the magic of capturing fleeting moments through lenses. Witnessing the participants' dedication was incredibly inspiring.
The second day held promises of equal enchantment, drawing an enthusiastic crowd eager to explore the wonderful exhibition awaiting them. A local puppeteer graced us with a spellbinding puppet show, weaving mesmerising tales and melodies that transported us to a realm of childhood innocence. The audience was wowed, their laughter and applause motivated us, as well as our puppeteer. It was an elating experience, reminding us of the enduring power of storytelling.
To further enrich the fest, we invited local artisans to showcase their traditional jewellery, infusing the event with an authentic touch. Additionally, face-painting, hair dyeing, hair braiding, and colour tattooing stalls adorned the venue, inviting visitors to embrace their creative sides. It was heartwarming to witness people embracing their unique styles and celebrating self-expression.
The event was a resounding success. As the final day concluded we knew that Perceptions had surpassed our wildest dreams. The footfall surpassed 6000 people, each one immersing themselves in the festivities with sheer enthusiasm. The event surely left an everlasting impact on everyone who attended, igniting a passion for art and fostering a sense of community.
Perceptions was not just a fest; it was a celebration of artistic brilliance, a platform where creativity flourished, and new connections were forged. The memories we made will forever be etched in our hearts, a reminder of the transformative power of art. As we bid adieu to this magnificent journey, we eagerly awaited the next chapter of Perceptions, eagerly anticipating the magic it will bring.
